Attorney Alan J. Black attended the University of Southern California and received his Bachelors of Arts degree in 1974. Two years later, he received his Masters of Arts degree. Attorney Black taught English as a Second Language as a Peace Corp volunteer in Tehran, Iran where he was tasked with teaching other teachers in English as a Second Language. After returning to the United States, Attorney Black returned to school and attended Golden Gate University where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1985. Attorney Black began his legal career in the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office as a Deputy Public Defender. There, Attorney Black tried numerous criminal cases in Municipal, Superior, and Juvenile Courts. Attorney Black also tried numerous homicide cases in both the Juvenile and Superior Courts of California. In 1989, Attorney Black moved to Massachusetts and established his own practice taking both private and appointed cases. Throughout his career, Attorney Black has handled a multitude of first-degree murder cases, felonies and misdemeanors, as well as appeals. In 2010, Attorney Black received his Masters Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a concentration in Forensic Sciences from the University of Florida. Additionally, Attorney Black taught Forensic Evidence and the Law, Evidence, and Criminal Law and Procedure at Bay Path University for several years.
